On August 3, 2014 at 4:30 PM, a magnitude-6.5 earthquake struck Ludian County of Zhaotong City in Yunnan Province. It affected 1.0884 million people in Ludian County, Qiaojia County, Zhaoyang District, Yongshan County and Huize County of Qujing City, and caused heavy human casualties and property damages. Efforts in rescuing, rebuilding and prompt prevention of diseases spreading in the affected areas faced daunting challenges. As a well-known pharmaceutical company, Sichuan Yuanda Shuyang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (“Yuanda Shuyang” for short) promptly extended helping hands to the people in the earthquake stricken areas.

Yunnan and Sichuan provinces are direct neighbors. Yuanda Shuyang employees care about people in the earthquake stricken areas. “Caring with profound kindness” has always been the operating principle of Yuanda Shuyang Pharmaceutical. Helping those in need is the social responsibility the company has always taken upon itself. After the earthquake, following the unified arrangement of Provincial Emergency Office and Health Bureau of Yunnan, the company immediately distributed its human tetanus immunoglobulin products to the stricken areas. At meantime, Jiang Dexi, the company GM, held an emergency management meeting and decided to donate 1,200 doses of 2.5g human immunoglobulin for intravenous injection worth 673,200 Yuan. The company also called for employee donation for the quake area. Management took the lead in the donation, and individual departments, blood collection stations and sales offices around the country followed. A total of 236,329 Yuan charity fund was raised within half a day. 

On August 11, 2014, the Provincial Health Bureau and Provincial Red Cross Society of Yunnan jointly held a charity ceremony in Kunming for medicines and medical devices donation to Ludian County. Yuanda Shuyang Pharmaceutical and 10 other companies attended. Yuanda Shuyang handed over its charity donations of medicine and money to the Provincial Health Bureau and Red Cross Society of Yunnan. Around 11:00 a.m., trucks filled with donated materials, together with the caring of Yuanda Shuyang employees, left Kunming for Ludian.
